Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Physiotherapist to join our dynamic team of staff at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing high quality assessments and interventions to patients who have complex rehabilitative needs. Effective team working is essential to ensure an integrated approach to patient care.
The post-holder will be based in Glan Clwyd Hospital and will be expected to carry a clinical caseload within the vascular ward and will involve providing respiratory physiotherapy as part of the inpatient and intensive care team within Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
We are looking for someone with considerable vascular, respiratory and ward-based experience who are keen to continue expanding and developing their skills. The ideal candidate will have rotational and/or static experience of working in the field of vascular and respiratory medicine; have the ability to effectively manage a complex caseload of patients, excellent time management skills, the ability to work under their own initiative as well as proven MDT working.
This position will provide excellent opportunities to develop critical experience and leadership skills along with working within an extremely supportive and specialist team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
* To carry out physiotherapy assessments and treatments; developing individualised therapeutic treatment programmes for a specialised caseload in the relevant clinical area.
* To ensure a high standard of care for each service user working with service users, families or carers, multi-agency teams and disciplines involved.
* To communicate with these service users, carers, agencies and other disciplines in an appropriate manner, often with sensitive information, diagnoses or outcomes.
* To supervise, teach and appraise peers, physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, technical instructors, students and other members of the multidisciplinary or multiagency teams.
* To train and supervise service users, families or carers and staff from other disciplines or agencies to carry out programmes of care devised by the therapist.
* To deputise and support the Clinical Team Leader as required in the daily management of the designated team.

* Experience of working in an NHS environment as physiotherapist and MDT/ multi-agency working where relevant

* Experience of contribution to CNG or working parties.

Essential criteria
* Physically fit to comply with the Health Board’s Manual Handling Guidelines
* Able to work at intense levels of concentration during most of the working day
* Able to meet the 7 day job planning and delivery requirements of the post
* Able to work within a stressful and unpredictable environment
* Able to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities
* Able to meet the travel requirements of the post
Desirable criteria
* Ability to speak Welsh
Qualifications And Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy
* HCPC registered
* Evidence of CPD in Physiotherapy in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio.
* Postgraduate training courses
* Good knowledge of complex conditions
* Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology underlying complex pathology
* Good working knowledge of all areas of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management.
* Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession
* Good understanding of the need to collect statistics and experience of their use
* Broad understanding of BCU policies and procedures
* Disability awareness.
