Are you a skilled engineer with leadership experience and a passion for keeping operations running smoothly? We’re looking for a Night Shift Engineering Team Lead to take charge of our night shift engineering team and ensure our production facility runs at peak performance. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, where you’ll guide a team of engineers, oversee maintenance activities, and drive continuous improvement—keeping safety, reliability, and efficiency at the heart of everything you do. Key Responsibilities: Leading the engineering team during night shifts, providing technical direction, coaching, and support. Acting as the senior engineering authority on site overnight, stepping in for the Engineering Shift Manager when required. Prioritising and managing maintenance and breakdown response to minimise downtime. Carrying out fault-finding, diagnostics, and repairs on production and site equipment. Ensuring completion of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules and accurate record-keeping in CMMS systems. Supporting root cause analysis and implementing long-term corrective actions to improve equipment reliability. Identifying engineering improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and support sustainability goals. Collaborating with production teams to align engineering support with operational needs. Maintaining compliance with all health & safety regulations and engineering standards. What We’re Looking For Engineering leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing or food production environment. Time-served apprenticeship or formal engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent). Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, including fault-finding and troubleshooting. Experience with PPM systems, reliability-based maintenance, and continuous improvement tools. Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., PUWER, LOLER, health & safety legislation). Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop engineering teams in a fast-paced setting. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
