Job Title: Head of Bids

Salary: £100,000 - £110,000 Per Annum + Car Allowance or Company Car + Benefits

Hours of work: 40 Hours Per Week
Role Overview
Provide strategic management to bid teams, ensuring they are established to perform and meet work winning targets. Ensure the company and corporate governance & procedures are adhered to at all stages of bids.
Main Responsibilities
* Leading and Motivating Lead, motivate and energise bid teams and individuals; act as a coach, encourage and maintain positivity within the teams. Proactively participate in and contribute to the Work Winning leadership team, monitoring and influencing multiple bids concurrently.
* Collaborating and Influencing Others Solve challenging problems and influence others to get excellent results. Achieve desired outcomes from individuals and groups not immediately within the work winning team, liaise, lead and remove barriers for other work winning functions, engage with the wider operational team before, during and after bidding, liaise with Operations and Project Directors for full support, filter key information to senior team as required.
* Problem Solving Proactively identify and solve issues within organisation, individuals and logistics to facilitate bid process and production. Self‑starter, identify needed information and seek individuals within the organisation to contribute to a solution. Encourage and harness creative and imaginative proposals from within the team.
* Driving Bid Strategies Drive, develop and review bid strategies regularly through the bid process. Solid understanding of contract, technical and pricing processes to challenge proposed strategies. Align bid strategies with sector and organisational aims and aspirations. Lead storyboard sessions, challenge preconceptions, and clarify features and benefits within a submission.
* Continuous Improvement Drive tender teams to be successful and continually improve. Maintain continuous improvement and quality standards within bid submissions. Own the tender process, ensuring adherence and consistency, and review the process at internal reviews to allow creative thinking and improvement.
* Team and Resource Management Lead individual bids while allocating and balancing resources between multiple bids. Recruit and appoint agency staff as required. Chair bid managers’ regular meetings, provide line management, compile department statistics, manage budgets, support the wider team and collaborate for successful solutions. Manage team training and report overall bid costs with the finance team.
Experience / Qualifications
* MUST have working knowledge of the UK Construction Market – Nuclear, Defence, Rail or Highways.
* MUST have knowledge of relevant procurement legislation.
* MUST have commercial awareness of different forms of contract (FIDIC, JCT, NEC etc.).
* MUST have strong presentation and client communication skills.
* MUST have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in strategic bid management with a proven track record of winning work and managing teams.
Eligibility All candidates must be eligible to work in the UK and have the ability to obtain Security Clearance.
