As a Mechanical Instructor, you'll be at the heart of delivering high-impact technical training to the next generation of military engineers. You'll be part of our Land Training business unit, supporting the RAF's Engineering and Maintenance Training Centre (EMTC) programme. Your work will directly contribute to operational readiness and Babcock's reputation for excellence in defence education.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver practical and theoretical instruction in mechanical systems and maintenance.
* Prepare lesson plans, assessments, and training materials aligned with course specifications.
* Monitor trainee progress and provide feedback and support.
* Maintain workshop safety and equipment accountability.
* Contribute to course development and continuous improvement initiatives.
The role is based onsite at MOD Lyneham, with set working times Monday to Friday totaling 37 hours per week.
Eligibility and Experience
* Supervisory experience in a technical or engineering environment.
* Proven hands‑on experience in mechanical systems or maintenance.
* Comfortable working in a structured training or instructional setting.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
Qualifications
* Minimum City & Guilds Part 3, NVQ Level 3, or Apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance (e.g., heavy automotive vehicle, plant machinery, or Initial Trade Training machinery).
* Equivalent military qualifications (e.g., GTM or similar RN/Army trade groups).
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain a Security Check (SC) clearance.
