Role: HR & People Assistant
Department: Volunteer & People Operations (HR)
Reporting To: Chief Operating Officer
Hours: 3 – 6 hours per week
Location: Hybrid
Contract: Voluntary
We are seeking a detail-oriented HR & People Assistant to join our People Operations Team, in a voluntary capacity. This role will provide crucial support for both our volunteers and employees while ensuring smooth HR operations.
This role is ideal for someone who is currently studding a Business and/or Human Resources related degree or working toward their CIPD, interested in developing some industry experience within HR, or someone with experience looking to support a community organisation.
You will be working alongside and coordinating our relationship with our HR & Employment Law Consultants.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Administration & Compliance
- Maintain accurate digital personnel records in compliance with employment law
- Conduct Right to Work checks for all new hires
- Process DBS checks in partnership with our Safeguarding Team
- Manage reference checks for new hires and former employees
Onboarding & Systems Management
- Deliver an exceptional onboarding experience for new team members
- Handle pre-employment checks and contract administration
- Set up new employees in HR systems
- Coordinate with Safeguarding Team on self-declaration requirements
- Manage employee access to e-learning platforms
Payroll Operations
- Collate monthly payroll information for match day and non-match day staff
- Collaborate with Payroll Manager on monthly report validation
- Work with Finance & Accounts Team on HMRC payments, Payroll and Expenses for employees
- Address and resolve payroll-related queries with the Payroll Manager
Process Improvement
- Contribute to ongoing operational enhancement initiatives
- Deliver customer-focused, value-added service
- Work alongside HR Consultants to address employee enquiries
- Support the continuous improvement of HR processes and procedures
The ideal candidate will be highly organised, detail-focused, and committed to maintaining confidentiality while providing excellent service to all stakeholders.
