Ourfriendly dispensary team at Chapel Allerton hospital work hard to supplymedicines to outpatients and inpatients on the wards. You will be workingwith pharmacists, technicians, and our ward teams to provide an efficientservice to our patients.
Therole requires a NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services and previous pharmacyexperience.
Thisrole is full time hours, 37.5 hours Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5pm. All staff contributes to an 8pm eveningshift every 5 weeks and a Saturday or Sunday on a 1 in 4 rota.
Main duties of the job
Therole is varied and consists of all aspects of labelling and dispensingmedicines, including controlled drugs, outpatient prescriptions, dischargeprescriptions, and inpatient orders.
Therewill also be some reception work, counselling patients, answering the phone,dealing with reception and admin type tasks.
Somestock maintenance and ordering of medicines will also be included in thisrole.
Weprovide a service to all the wards so part of the role will be working withour automated systems (robots) on the wards supplying stock and checkingpatient own medicines.

Job responsibilities
Performa variety of pharmacy support duties, some of which may be patient facing.These include stock management, dispensing and/or preparation of medicines ina designated area of MMPS which may include dispensary, aseptic facilities,warehouse and dispensary support rooms at ward level. Day to day supervisionof Pharmacy Services Assistants and Pharmacy Porters to ensure servicedelivery in relevant area of MMPS
Theremay also be distribution duties including the movement of goods and arequirement for general housekeeping duties.
The post holder will not have anyline management responsibilities. Theywill provide induction and training for Pharmacy Services Assistants andPharmacy Porters and other staff as required.
Thepost holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays ona rostered basis.
Thepost holder will be required to travel to other sites for briefing meetings,training sessions and to support service provision.
Level 2 Apprenticeship /PharmacyServices Assistant or NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services or PharmacyManufacturing Course.
Experience of working in acommunity or hospital pharmacy.
Knowledge of procedures of ownworking area following on the job training
Knowledge of good customer care.
Experience of stock control systems
Must have excellent verbalcommunication skills.
Ability to work accurately underpressure and follow standard operating procedures.
Good literacy and numeracy skills
Ability to interpret writteninstructions.
Ability to supervise and giveinstruction to Pharmacy Services Assistants and Porters and other staff asrequired
