Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £30,000 - £50,000 + package
Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to join a leading construction company working on a range of education sector projects in the Midlands. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-profile developments, including new builds, refurbishments, and extensions within the education space. The role requires a candidate with a solid understanding of construction cost management and the ability to ensure projects are delivered within budget and time constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage all aspects of the commercial process, from pre-construction through to final account
* Preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts
* Ensure accurate cost reporting and forecasting, ensuring projects are kept within budget
* Negotiate and procure subcontracts, ensuring compliance with contractual terms
* Measure, value, submit and negotiate contract variations
* Liaise with project teams to ensure effective communication and coordination
* Conduct risk analysis and value management to optimize project value
* Provide regular updates to senior management and key stakeholders
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, health and safety regulations, and company policies
* Resolve any contractual disputes promptly and efficiently
Skills & Experience Required:
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, ideally with exposure to education projects
* Knowledge of JCT/NEC contracts and construction law
* Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
* Strong numerical and analytical skills
* Experience with cost management software and MS Office applications
Qualifications:
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
* Membership of RICS or equivalent professional body (desirable but not essential)
