Overview
We are expanding our teams of Clinical Healthcare Support Workers within our hospital and were inviting caring, supportive people to take a look at this exciting opportunity to join us. Our Clinical Health Care Support Workers are integral to our nursing teams. If youre passionate and want to make a positive difference to our patients and colleagues every day, we have a number of Clinical Healthcare Support Workers vacancies across our adult inpatient medical and surgical wards. While previous healthcare experience is welcomed, it is not essential. We provide full training before you begin working on one of our wards. Youll start with our new to care induction programme, designed to help you settle into life at the Royal United Hospitals Bath. During this time, youll learn the skills needed for your role and begin working towards the Care Certificate unless you already hold this qualification.
Responsibilities
* As a Clinical Healthcare Support Worker you will be a core member of the team delivering personal care, both clinical and non-clinical, to patients. Youll also be key in supporting patients with their own self-care and independence.
* Youll work under the guidance of a healthcare professional such as a nurse and your job will vary depending on the ward you are based. Your daily duties will be varied to include:
* Delivering personal care such as helping patients get up, washed and dressed, taking patients to the toilet, helping at meal times
* Contribute to patient assessments such as blood pressure monitoring, oxygen saturation levels, body temperature
* Recording your actions accurately in patient notes
Our hospital is a 24 hour service as our patients need care and attention around the clock.
Qualifications and Skills
* You need to be able to understand and communicate both verbally and in writing in English
* You dont need any formal qualifications in maths but you will need to have numerical and analytic skills to do patient observations
* You will need to have a customer focused approach which is essential to providing patients with the best possible experience
* You will need to be able to use IT systems and databases (training is provided)
* You will have the skill to focus on the details with the ability to spot problems. You will know when you are able to correct or when to escalate

Visa and eligibility
Please note that this role currently does not meet the minimum salary threshold of £25,000 required for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, as set by the UK Home Office effective from 9 April 2025. While higher pay points may be available depending on verified NHS experience, the majority of new appointments typically commence at the lower end of the pay band, which falls below the sponsorship threshold. As such, visa sponsorship may not be available for candidates who do not already have the right to work in the UK.
