Sonar Simulator Desk Driver and SM Warfare System Operator Details of Organisation: FOST(SM) Shore Command Team Training (CTT) Facility, delivering Warfare Training to SSBN, SSN crews, SMCC and Training courses in support OC. Selection Process Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly. Following interviews, the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate, with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly. Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS. Job Purpose: To maintain an accurate sonar picture on the Sonar Simulation desk within the SCTTs via the Warship Signature Database in support of the training aim. To assist with training through operating all Warfare SM equipment in all positions in the Control Room & Sound Room, IAW current doctrine and as required by the training Senior Rate. To ensure that SCTTs are fully prepared for training as directed by the department LH’s. To ensure that the SCTTs are fully secured on completion of training. Conduct daily user checks and defect reporting prior to the start of a training period. Ensure the Control Room & Sound Room are clean & tidy before and after each training session as directed by the department LH’s. To participate in SMCC Command Briefs as directed by SMCC CO or department LH’s. Undertake Water Safety Equipment Maintainer/Supervisor training. To conduct Duty Naval Base Hand duties as required in HMNB Clyde. Prior experience on an SSN/SSBN in a role as either an SSM or TSM rating is highly desirable. Technical: Be able to qualify and act as an effective Sonar Desk Driver in a busy shipping/tactical environment Be able to operate all Sound Room & Control Room SM Warfare equipment effectively in complex scenarios.
