We are looking for a practical and resourceful person to help us take care of our beautiful buildings and grounds at The Abbey CE VA Primary School. Hours will be from 4.30 - 6.30pm, four days a week, Monday to Thursday, 38 weeks per year (term time only.) Grade 5 SCP 5-6 £25,583 - £25,989 FTE. In addition to the 8hrs per week contract, there are further hours available of up to 10hrs per month, to be taken if and when needed for jobs such as gritting, letting people in during holiday periods or doing outside jobs during the winter period. The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year. Keeping Children Safe in Education The school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern. About Us The school first opened here as St James School in 1873 and still retains the two original Victorian classrooms, now extensively modernised. In 1987, following an amalgamation with Enmore Green School, it was renamed the Abbey. We changed from a First to a Primary School in September 2003. There have been several later additions to the building which now provides a total of seven classrooms, a library and music room, computer suite and a large, well equipped hall. We ensure the best possible environment for learning by developing a positive atmosphere where pupils feel safe and feel they belong, where they enjoy being challenged, but where they enjoy learning, and know that they will succeed (because they know the challenge will have been set at the right level).
