Position: Senior Early Years Officer - fixed term to 31/05/2026
Location: Pennywell Early Learning and Childcare
Salary: £39,121 - £46,023
Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks
Pennywell Early Learning and Childcare opened in August 2024. This new centre provides high-quality learning experiences for children and families as part of the MacMillan Hub, a community-focused, collaborative space offering various services through partnerships with North Edinburgh Arts and the relocated Muirhouse library.
We are seeking a Senior Early Years Officer to join our team on a fixed-term basis until 31/05/2026. Pennywell ELC caters to children from 0 to school age, with a registration capacity of 166 children. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pedagogy, model this in interactions with children, families, and team members, and demonstrate values and commitment to providing excellent experiences. They should be confident in addressing developmental areas and creating action plans to foster positive change.
Experience across all early years age groups is preferred. This role may suit an experienced EYO ready for the next challenge. The position is full-year, 52 weeks.

This post involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The successful candidate will need to join or update their PVG Scheme membership. Candidates who have spent 3 or more months outside the UK in the last 5 years will require an Overseas Criminal Record Check. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these checks.

Our salary range reflects the starting salary, with annual increases until the top of the range is reached.
