Salary: £32,302.40 - £38,729.60 per year dependant on qualifications and experience

We’re currently looking to recruit a Speech and Language Therapist. The role involves contributing to and developing an integrated Speech and Language Therapy service for pupils at Aurora Eccles (secondary) and White House (primary) Schools. You will provide a dynamic Speech and Language Therapy service as part of a multi-disciplinary team, undertaking all clinical duties within the ethical framework of professional conduct. The role includes assessment, intervention, and providing advice, information, and training to parents, carers, and professionals in line with intervention plans.
Part of the Aurora Group, Aurora Eccles and White House Schools in Quidenham, Norwich, provide day placements for students aged 6 to 16 years, primarily with communication and interaction difficulties, specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, and some on the autistic spectrum or with anxieties that affect learning.
With small classes (typically 7 children and at least 3 staff per class), the focus is on individual needs. There is a full clinical team onsite to support you, along with experienced and stable SLT colleagues.
Key Accountabilities:
* Initial and ongoing assessment of students’ speech, language, and social communication skills.
* Writing assessment and progress reports for annual EHCP reviews.
* Developing, implementing, and reviewing communication programmes.
* Delivering speech and language therapy interventions, both direct and indirect, 1:1 and in small groups.
* Adapting therapy across the school with a focus on small group delivery.
* Creating visual supports such as Social Stories and visual timetables.
* Providing advice and support to education teams, families, and carers.
* Working multi-disciplinarily and multi-agency to manage complex needs.
* Collaborating with staff to support individual programme delivery within the curriculum.
* Promoting a Total Communication approach.
* Developing and delivering staff training on communication topics.
* Delegating tasks to therapy assistants/support staff when appropriate.
* Contributing to service development plans for speech and language therapy.
Please note duties may vary, and you will contribute to the overall aims of Eccles and White House schools as required.
Qualifications:
* Registered member of RCSLT and HCPC.
* Hold a professional Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent.
Knowledge and Experience:
* Knowledge of various therapy interventions suitable for the student cohort.
* Knowledge of behaviour support, trauma, and adverse childhood experiences impacts on communication.
* Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Conditions.
* Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and manual handling procedures.
* Experience working with children or young people with learning disabilities and autistic spectrum conditions.
* Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
Skills:
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship-building abilities.
* Good time-management and organizational skills.
* Ability to assess and implement therapy plans based on needs.
* Proficient IT skills for administrative and reporting purposes.
Due to the rural location, candidates should have a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
