We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Caterham, starting as soon as possible. As a Year 1 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum. You will foster independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours, while supporting pupils’ individual needs. Your role will also involve working closely with teaching assistants, monitoring pupil progress, and maintaining clear and accurate assessment records. Key Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 1 curriculum Deliver effective literacy, numeracy, and foundation subject lessons Support pupils transitioning from EYFS to Key Stage 1 Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners Promote independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours Maintain a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants and colleagues Build positive relationships with parents and carers, providing regular feedback Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives Ensure safeguarding policies are adhered to at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience teaching Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1 Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing Work collaboratively as part of a supportive professional team The school is located in Caterham, with excellent transport links and a welcoming local community.
