We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Principal ICT Officer to join our innovative team and help shape the future of public services.

Key responsibilities of this role are:
* Manage the ICT Enterprise Architecture Solutions Architecture service area to meet service priorities and lead an effective service responsive to the needs of the organisation.
* Act as technical specialist or lead expert in technical and solutions architecture, in line with service delivery requirements, whilst understanding the impact on wider stakeholders and the organisation.
* Work with the Head of Service to help create and manage a framework of best practice, procedures and documentation which support the delivery of the function and ensure processes are in place to enable continuous review and improvement.
* Design and manage the Council’s ICT enterprise and solutions architecture, providing a current and long-term view of the business functionality, data, ICT applications and supporting technologies and components and adhering to architecture best practice.
* Work with the Applications and Operations teams to identify, drive and deliver on opportunities for consolidation of applications and technology infrastructure and to remove duplication, simplify DCC’s business function and ICT estate and reduce ongoing maintenance and support.
What skills and experience do you need to have:
* Extensive knowledge of Enterprise Architecture and Solutions Architecture principles and concepts.
* Extensive knowledge of datacentre and cloud-based reference architectures, capabilities, tools and technologies enabling design decisions.
* Proven experience of managing, motivating and continually developing staff to deliver strong performance.
* Substantial experience of managing an ICT Solutions Architecture function in a large complex organisation.
* Operating at a senior level in a large ICT Service environment, managing and delivering change.

Our ICT Team is contractually based in Matlock, Derbyshire, but we work on a flexible basis which includes options for home working with an expectation for at least one day per week at location.
