We are a warm, supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school based in the B33 area of Birmingham, dedicated to providing exceptional education and care for children with a wide range of additional needs.
We are currently seeking a compassionate, resilient, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a student with complex needs. This role is ideal for someone who has previous experience in an SEN or mainstream school setting and is passionate about helping young people reach their full potential.
🌱 The Role:
Provide consistent 1:1 support for a student with complex needs, including personal care and mobility assistance if required
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and therapy teams to implement individual learning and care plans
Use strategies to promote communication, sensory engagement, and emotional regulation
Support with daily routines and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment
Record and monitor progress and report effectively to staff and parents/carers
🎓 About You:
Previous experience working in a school setting is essential, ideally within SEN
Experience supporting children or young people with complex medical or behavioural needs
Knowledge of autism, sensory processing differences, and/or physical disabilities
A patient, calm and nurturing approach with strong communication skills
Team Teach, Makaton, PECs, or Moving & Handling training is advantageous but not essential
Must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS check
