This is a newly created role within the People team to support the People Advisor, filling in knowledge gaps and supporting strategic initiatives. The role acts as the right hand to the Head of HR, working with HR, Talent, and L&D teams, and partnering closely with senior leadership. It serves as the strategic link between the people department and the rest of the business, aligning HR practices with overall business objectives.

People Business Partner Responsibilities

The People Business Partner will assess and anticipate HR/ER needs, communicate proactively with managers, and present to senior leaders. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Developing and implementing HR/ER strategies supporting business objectives
* Providing guidance on complex employee relations issues to the People Advisor
* Supporting managers in performance management processes
* Assisting in talent acquisition and recruitment
* Conducting grievances and appeals with in-depth findings, advising on decisions
* Creating a career framework of levels and job families to promote transparency and progression
* Supporting organizational change initiatives

People Business Partner Rewards

The role is Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, primarily office-based with some flexibility for home working. Travel between sites in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and the South Coast is required; a driver’s license is essential.

People Business Partner Experience

Ideal candidates will be CIPD Level 5 or above, with experience as an HRBP in organizations with at least 200 employees (current staff approx. 850, expanding in 2026). Experience in manual industries such as waste management, manufacturing, or logistics is preferred.

Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a high-quality work ethic are essential. The role requires broad HR experience, including engagement, retention, restructures, TUPE, change management, employee relations, wellbeing, DE&I, performance management, succession planning, and policy development. A proactive approach to employee relations and risk mitigation is crucial.

You should be confident in advising, coaching, and challenging decision-making, with a professional, commercial, and 'can-do' attitude. Strong presentation skills and understanding of HR best practices and UK employment law are necessary. The candidate should demonstrate a long-term career perspective, aligning with the client’s value of longevity and progression opportunities.
