1:1 Tutor - Supporting Non-Verbal Learners (SEND) Location: Lowestoft Hours: Flexible - Part-Time or Full-Time Rate: Competitive and based on experience Are you a patient, creative, and skilled tutor with experience supporting non-verbal learners? We are seeking a 1:1 tutor to work with children and young people who are non-verbal and have complex learning needs. You'll be part of a nurturing, person-centred approach, using alternative communication strategies and tailored learning plans to help each learner progress at their own pace. Key Responsibilities: Deliver engaging, personalised lessons that meet the learner's individual needs and EHCP outcomes Use communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, AAC devices, or visual timetables Work closely with families and professionals to ensure consistent, joined-up support Create a calm, safe, and positive learning environment Promote social, emotional, and functional skills alongside academic learning What We're Looking For: Experience supporting non-verbal learners or those with complex SEND (e.g. autism, PMLD, SLCN) Knowledge of alternative communication strategies and sensory regulation approaches Ability to adapt teaching to a wide range of needs and learning styles Calm, empathetic, and consistent in your approach Teaching qualification or SEND experience (formal or informal) preferred What We Offer: The chance to make a meaningful impact in a learner's life Flexible working hours and locations (home, community settings, or online) Ongoing training in SEND, communication, and inclusive practice Good rates of pay.
