An opportunity has arisen for a Receptionist/Administrator to join our reception team at and Victoria Cross Surgery.
We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Receptionist/Administrator to join our busy, friendly GP Practice working at Victoria Cross Surgery and branch site Lakeside Practice.
We are looking for someone to work 34 hours per week on a Monday to Friday (hours to be confirmed). We will consider full time hours for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, and must be flexible, reliable and be able to work shift patterns which includes opening/closing of the Surgery.
Previous experience working within a GP practice is preferred and knowledge of SystmOne would be an advantage, however full training will be provided.

Purposeof the Job:
To assist and directpatients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional To provide a courteous,efficient and effective reception service to all patients, staff members andoutside bodies To ensure effectivecommunication between patients and all members of the primary health care team To maintain and monitorthe practice appointments system To collate, process andrecord information in accordance with practice procedures
MainDuties/Key Tasks:
Greetand appropriately direct all telephone callers and visitors to the practice
Processand distribute incoming mail when required
Takemessages and pass on information
Bookappointments
Fileand retrieve paperwork
Input/allocatedata
Processand print repeat prescriptions for signature by doctors
Initiatecontact with patients, other team member and health care agencies
Provideadministration assistance to practice staff as required from time to time,including typing and photocopying
Ensurecorrespondence, reports, results etc., are scanned and assigned on the computersystem on a daily basis and file or shred paper records according to practiceprocedures
Monitoringstationery and supplies and reporting to supervisor if low
Acceptclinical samples according to practice procedures
Health& Safety duties
Providerefreshments for staff and visitors as required
Keepthe reception area, notice boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free fromobstructions and clutter
Actas chaperone in clinical consultations as required
Holidayand sickness cover for colleagues
Attendand participate in practice meetings as required
Participationin the buddy system for evening cover for colleagues

6. The post holder will be expected to promote the safety and well being of staff and patients, as defined in the practice Health and Safety Policy, and will report any untoward occurrences or concerns.
7. The post holder will ensure that patients, other staff and members of the public are not put at risk by any omission or action on their part.

8. In the course of performing these duties the post holder will have access to confidential material about patients, staff and the practice as a business organisation. All such information is to be treated as confidential.
9. On no account must information relating to identifiable patients be divulged to anyone other than authorised persons, for example, medical, nursing or other professional staff, as appropriate, who are concerned directly with the care, diagnosis and/or treatment of the patient.
10. Breach of this confidence may result in dismissal.
