Role Profile This role will assume overall responsibility for the Laboratory function to support the manufacture of Aerospace components. The Laboratory Manager will be technically responsible for the NADCAP special processes and will ensure full compliance to the working practices as determined by our customers. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities Provide dynamic hands-on leadership to team to ensure a consistent application of standards, values, and improvement tools. Driving and supporting site teams towards "best in class" practises - empowered accountability, and continuous improvement mind set. Day to Day leadership of all laboratory staff. Attend Daily and Site meetings as required (Production/Quality/EHS). Ensure EHS is enforced in managed areas. Ensure site Quality System is enforced in managed areas. Organisation of laboratory resource and prioritisation of jobs to ensure timely completion, customer deadlines are met, and outstanding service provided. Organise long term, monthly and weekly work scheduling, and planning. A signatory for the company, provide accurate checking and release of Test Reports. Correspond directly with production to provide technical assistance, advice, recommendations etc. Ensure special process accreditations and approvals are retained, by enforcing adhesion to Quality Standards and Test Procedures as applicable. Overview of NADCAP Special Processes Heat Treatment Thermal Barrier Coating Welding & Brazing Chemical Processing Air Flow Non-Conventional Machining Preparation of laboratory procedures, data cards and work instructions. Undertake internal quality and environmental auditing. Organise and provide training of production and laboratory staff in special processes. Oversight and guidance of our NADCAP special process accreditations. Any other reasonable duties deemed necessary by management. Person Specification Enthusiastic and committed to making improvements to the Lab Good oral, written and personal communication skills Problem Solving skills Proven and strong leadership / coaching skills Computer literate – full range of MS Office Skills Engineering / Scientific Degree qualification and / or equivalent experience Previous experience of NADCAP audits Previous experience of Metallurgy / Heat Treatment / Thermal Barrier Coating would be desirable.
