Job Overview

This full‑time, permanent role based at the Archipelago Offices in Frimley (location subject to change) offers an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and procurement‑literate professional to contribute to a significant programme of change within the Trust.

Working within the Procurement Team, the postholder will support the sourcing and purchasing of goods and services within the pathology category across Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS). BSPS is one of the first pathology networks established in the NHS and is recognised as one of the largest and most successful in the country. The network is committed to delivering patient‑centred services through safe, high‑quality and clinically led diagnostic provision.

Established in 1998, BSPS is a collaborative partnership between several NHS organisations including Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

As a network, BSPS continues to lead innovation in pathology services and works closely with suppliers to develop modern, network‑wide diagnostic solutions that support improved patient care.

Please note that this role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the post.


Main Duties of the Job

As a key member of the Procurement Team, you will play an important role in supporting the effective sourcing and supply of goods and services across the pathology category.


You Will

* Provide professional advice on procurement and supply matters
* Support sourcing activity to ensure value for money and compliance with public procurement regulations
* Work collaboratively with clinical and operational colleagues across the BSPS network
* Maintain detailed knowledge of approved suppliers and available supply routes
* Identify alternative sources for specialist goods where required to ensure continuity of service

Qualifications

Essential Criteria
* Member of CIPS Diploma or equivalent experience
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
* Evidence of relevant CPD
Desirable Criteria
* Desire to achieve/undertake CIPS or similar
* Holder of a CIPS Advanced Diploma


Experience

Essential Criteria
* Demonstrable experience of purchasing of varied range of goods and services relating to health care
* Experience of Public Sector regulations (PCR2015) and/or Procurement Act (PA23)
* Experience of reviewing contractual related documentation
* Proven track record of buying a varied range of goods and services relating to healthcare.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience of processing and obtaining PAQ's, PPQ's, URN's or similar


Skills & Knowledge

Essential Criteria
* Familiar with MS Office products
* Knowledge of related products and services
* Computer literate – i.e., able to use an electronic procurement system within the required parameters.
* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to absorb new information quickly and then retain it and apply it.
* Numerate and able to receive, provide and manipulate complex information.
* Ability to persuade and make recommendations to senior managers based on professional judgement and expertise.
Desirable Criteria
* Working knowledge of eProc or equivalent system for Purchase Orders and invoicing.
* Working in a similar position with a similar sized organisation
