Job summary The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that,with responsibility for an annual budget of over 10bn, the Army is a major part of the Ministry of Defence and one of its largest operating centres who employaround 12,000 Civil Servants located at over 300 locations supporting the110K regular and reserve soldiers across the Army. This Civil Service workforce isdiverse, with many different functions and professions ranging from police officers, security guards, trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. Army Training Centre Pirbright (ATC (P)), a dynamic and fast-paced military training environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the operational effectiveness of the unit by being responsible for advising on critical and mandated updates, rollouts. Dissemination of upgrades and downtime for Internet on site and also liaison with external stakeholders for any scoping or improvement works, acting as the POC for all IT Security issues and reporting to Unit Security Officer. Please note: This post is based at ATC Pirbright, however until September 26, the role will also be required to carry out activities at ATR Winchester, on a temporary detached duty basis, in support of critical training outputs and Winchester drawdown activity. Attendance at Winchester will be determined by business need and will be confirmed by Line Management on an as-needed basis. Once the Winchester drawdown is complete, the role will revert to Pirbright on a permanent basis. Individuals will be entitled to claim travel expenses for journeys to and from Winchester, less the distance from home to their permanent duty station, in accordance with the Travel & Subsistence Policy. Use of pool cars will also be available. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job description This position is located within The Army Training Centre Pirbright (ATC (P). It is a role that offers challenges and high engagement with all staff across the establishment. ATC (P) is a fast paced environment to work in that has exciting opportunities available and provides pivotal support to all members of personnel. Key responsibilities: Oversight and Accountability for all ModNet Assets for Alexander Barracks Oversight and Accountability for all Communication Equipment for Alexander Barracks Liasie with External Stakeholders for Internet issues (MoDNet, DBI, Winfinity) First line POC for reporting and escalating issues Line management of 2 x Admin Officers Act as site Local Security Officer (LSO) and lead Expert User for the MODNet system including the control and administration of hardware and removable media Act as the Information Technology Security Officer (ITSO) for the sites standalone IT and Internet system Liaise with HQSE CIS (Head Quarters South East / Computer Information Systems) department in processing requests and submitting of Business cases for moves and replacement of MODNet and Standalone hardware Site POC for all contractors on site dealing with telecommunications and electrical works relating to IT Infrastructure hardware Carry out duties commensurate with the appointment and MOD Civil Service grade required by Line Manager or Chain of Command Person specification Essential skills required: Must be IT literate (MS office proficient) Previous experience working in a similar role within this field Desirable skills: Any experience or knowledge of SharePoint would be desirable Behaviours We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process: Seeing the Big Picture Working Together Delivering at Pace Managing a Quality Service We only ask for evidence of these behaviours on your application form: Seeing the Big Picture Working Together Benefits Alongside your salary of 30,740, Ministry of Defence contributes 8,905 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
