An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Stroke Team at East Kent University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be working alongside the wider clinical teams on the Stroke Wards to deliver excellent patient care and be part of a dynamic, flexible, supportive and forward-thinking therapy workforce.
As a Band 6 Physiotherapist, you will have the opportunity to work within both Hyperacute and Early Rehabilitation of Stroke patients.
Due to increased investment in stroke services we are expanding our team at EKHUFT. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Therapists with a passion for working in stroke services to support our Stroke Therapy Team and provide highly specialist service delivery for our patients.

Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Physiotherapist within EKHUFT, you will have the opportunity to develop your career within Neurological Rehabilitation.
We have well established links with Higher Education Institutes in the region, offering Clinical Placements to students from the University of Brighton and Canterbury Christchurch University. Clinical Staff from the therapy team also support these Institutions with guest lecturer’
There is a strong emphasis on Clinical Excellence within the Stroke and Neurology Team. We have provision of regular training for all staff members and encourage active engagement within National and International Research Clinical Trials.
We will look to develop you as an individual, with regular support and supervision to help you with your career development and aspiration’s.
We actively promote the use of evidence-based interventions and using outcome measure to document progress and help direct rehabilitation.
We have a large gym space which is well equipped for patients to meet their rehabilitation potential.

Experience
* Minimum of 18 months post graduate experience in relevant clinical area
* Proven record of providing high quality intervention for high risk patients
* Experience of Working with stroke/neurologically impaired patients as a Band 5
* Experience of working in an acute hospital environment
* Previous experience in supporting students
Skills
* Evidence of developing clinical skills in stroke
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Up to date therapeutic moving & handling skills
* Evidence of complex/ multifactorial discharge planning
* Evidence of using standardised outcome measures within routine clinical practice to evidence change over time
* Basic IT skills
Knowledge
* Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in the NHS and Primary Care including Clinical Governance, NICE and CQC
* Knowledge of up to date clinical / evidenced based practice within clinical speciality
* Awareness of National Clinical Stroke Guidelines 2023
Qualifications
* BSc Physiotherapist
* HCPC registration
* Member of CSP
* Member of Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology (ACPIN)
