Emotional and Mental Health Support - Wantage
Are you an individual who is passionate about supporting children with their mental health needs? A really rewarding position has become available for an Emotional and Mental Health support assistant to work in a school in Wantage. This is an excellent position to gain valuable experience whilst making a difference to the lives of vulnerable children who may struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD and other mood disorders. You will help create a positive and safe environment for them to learn and grow.
As an emotional and mental health support assistant, you will directly be involved in helping children manage and cope with their emotions and mental health. Your day-to-day duties include supporting and shadowing the class teacher, providing 1:1 support for the SEN students, helping run engaging lessons, and assisting with behavioural management where required.
The role would suit someone who is resilient and confident in supporting young people with challenging mental health needs. This is a great opportunity for aspiring psychologists, social workers, therapists and counsellors. Experience working with vulnerable children is desirable but not essential. Those with a background in sports, art or drama will also be at an advantage. Graduates in a relevant field will also be considered.
Responsibilities
* Support and shadow the class teacher while providing 1:1 assistance for SEN students.
* Help run engaging lessons to ensure the classroom is a positive and stimulating environment.
* Assist with behavioural management as needed to maintain a safe learning environment.
Qualifications and Skills
* Resilience and confidence in supporting young people with challenging mental health needs.
* Interest in fields such as psychology, social work, therapy or counselling.
* Experience with vulnerable children is desirable but not essential.
* Background in sports, art or drama is advantageous.
* Graduates in a relevant field will be considered.
