The role
We’re looking for a Demand & Supply Planning Lead to own the translation of commercial demand into a single, executable, and economically sound operational plan.
This role is central to how the business scales. You’ll be accountable for forecast quality, planning discipline, and S&OP decision-making — ensuring the company operates with one credible version of the truth that balances service, cost, capacity, and waste in a short shelf-life environment.
Working at the intersection of Commercial, Operations, Procurement, and Finance, you’ll act as the arbiter of planning truth — challenging assumptions, surfacing trade-offs, and enabling timely, confident decisions.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who enjoys ownership, clarity, and turning complexity into actionable plans that actually work.
The responsibilities
As Demand & Supply Planning Lead, you will:
Demand planning & forecast ownership
* Own the rolling demand forecast across all SKUs, formats, and channels
* Reconcile base, promotional, NPD, and customer inputs into a single-number forecast
* Maintain forecast assumptions, bias tracking, and override logic
* Measure and improve forecast accuracy, bias, and volatility
* Act as final arbiter where demand assumptions conflict or lack evidence
Supply, capacity & production planning
* Translate demand into clear, feasible supply and production plans
* Balance demand against constraints including labour, equipment, lead times, and capacity
* Identify capacity gaps early and recommend intervention scenarios
* Model and quantify trade-offs between service, cost, and operational risk
Materials & inventory planning
* Own material requirements planning across ingredients, packaging, and consumables
* Optimise inventory levels with explicit shelf-life, MOQ, and service trade-offs
* Monitor and mitigate waste, expiry, and obsolescence risk
* Maintain core planning master data assumptions
Labour & cost-to-serve planning
* Build volume-to-labour models aligned to forecast scenarios
* Quantify labour cost per unit by volume band and shift pattern
* Model overtime, temporary labour, and headcount trade-offs
* Provide forward visibility of labour cost implications to Finance and Operations
Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) ownership
* Own the S&OP cadence, inputs, outputs, and decision pack
* Present clear, decision-led recommendations to senior stakeholders
* Surface explicit risks and trade-offs rather than unresolved ambiguity
* Track decisions and ensure downstream execution alignment
Commercial & cross-functional leadership
* Act as the primary planning interface for Commercial and Finance
* Challenge growth, promotional, and NPD assumptions using data-led analysis
* Ensure all teams operate from a single, aligned plan
Planning systems, reporting & continuous improvement
* Define how planning tools and ERP systems are used (not IT ownership)
* Improve planning hygiene, data quality, and cycle efficiency
* Reduce manual work and planning noise through better structure and standards
* Own planning KPIs including forecast accuracy, OTIF, waste, and inventory health
The skillset
* Proven experience in demand, supply, or production planning within FMCG or food manufacturing
* Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel and planning tools
* Practical understanding of MRP / ERP systems
* Commercially aware, structured decision-maker
* Confident challenging assumptions and influencing cross-functional stakeholders
* Experience in short shelf-life or high-care food environments is a strong advantage
* Exposure to owning or facilitating S&OP is desirable
* Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools is a plus
The person
* High energy, dependable, and calm under pressure
* Strong ownership mindset with pride in quality and outcomes
* Commercially curious and confident challenging the status quo
* Proactive, agile, and solutions-focused
* Comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-scaling environment
* Collaborative, trusted, and able to lead with empathy
* Motivated by building clarity, discipline, and impact across the business
The benefits
* Be part of a mission-driven, founder-led business
* Play a key role in scaling one of the UK’s most exciting health brands
* High-impact role with real ownership and visibility
* Career progression as the business grows
* Training & Development support for further qualifications
* Employee discount on Turmeric Co. shots 🧡
