The Role

Due to continued growth at our Biopharma labs, we're seeking two proactive and meticulous Cell Culture Associates to oversee and ensure continuity in our Upstream lab operations across the weekend (Friday – Monday). Actioning routine and critical activities in our mammalian cell cultures, you'll perform aseptic cell culture operations (e.g. cell expansion, passaging, sampling and seeding of shake flasks) and maintain and monitor ongoing bioreactor batches (including sampling and logging key parameters, such as VCD, viability, pH and DO), working with cell culture systems (including incubators, biosafety cabinets, Ambr250 and benchtop bioreactors) and preparing media, feeds and buffer solutions accurately to set protocols. To ensure the smooth running of the department, you'll work closely to our SOPs, EHS and GxP standards, ensuring proper handling of lab materials and waste whilst documenting all work in lab notebooks, batch records and logbooks. You'll also ensure cleanroom standards are maintained by preserving biosafety cabinet cleanliness, equipment sanitisation and sterile practices. At the end of each weekend shift, you'll prepare an effective handover, detailing culture progress, deviations and any issues to the wider team.

The Person

* Significant hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture in a laboratory or GMP environment, with expertise in aseptic techniques and sterile operations in biosafety cabinets.
* Good experience using a range of cell culture equipment, e.g. CO2 incubators, Ambr250, small-scale bioreactors, automated samplers.
* Strong organisation skills, able to manage conflicting tasks to meet deadlines and solve problems on your feet independently, even in a busy work environment.
* Excellent communication skills (in written and spoken English), you're confident liaising with all levels of seniority and documenting effective handover processes for other teams / shifts.
* Good attention to detail and clear understanding of the importance of following processes to maintain sterility and culture integrity.
* Degree/Masters level qualification in a life science, bioprocessing or related discipline.

The Rewards

In return, we offer a competitive salary and rewards package (including holiday, bonus and pension scheme). Not to mention the opportunity to genuinely make a difference in a new and dynamic role within a progressive and expanding business, at an exciting time of growing international reach.
