An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and innovative individual to join the Bleeding Disorder Network of Wales as a Youth Worker. This role involves delivering a supportive youth work service tailored to children, young people, and young adults with Inherited Bleeding Disorders.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm, compassion, and creative problem-solving skills. Welsh language skills are desirable, but applicants who speak Welsh and/or English are equally welcome to apply. The post involves contributing to the development of transition services and acting as an advocate and support source for young patients aged 11 to 25, addressing their cultural, developmental, and emotional needs.
The Youth Worker will provide youth support to young adults, including those in transition aged 11 and above, working independently and exercising initiative in coordinating duties. Responsibilities include developing youth services through project aims, offering recreational and social activities to foster cognitive, social, and emotional skills, and working collaboratively with health colleagues to support gender-specific services, such as engaging young women with bleeding disorders in joint gynaecological and carrier clinics. The role also involves partnership work with MDTs in neighboring health boards and attending outreach clinics.
