Job Description:
Our client school is a dedicated and inclusive educational institution committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for all students. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team for the upcoming academic year to work one-to-one with a child who has Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This role is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a child's education and development.
Position Overview:
As a One-to-One Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing individualised support to a non-verbal child with ASC. This full-time position covers the entire academic year and requires a caring and patient individual who is dedicated to helping our student thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The child may require personal care assistance as part of their daily routine.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one support and assistance to the child throughout the school day.
* Implement and adapt educational strategies to meet the specific needs and learning styles of the child.
* Assist with personal care needs as required by the child.
* Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for the child.
* Collaborate with classroom teachers and special education professionals to create and implement Education Health Care Plans.
* Monitor and document the child's progress and behaviour, reporting observations to the educational team.
* Ensure the child's safety and well-being at all times.
* Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding the child's progress and needs.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; additional relevant education or training in special education or a related field is a plus.
* Previous experience working with individuals with ASC, particularly non-verbal individuals, is highly desirable.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to helping children with special needs.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to follow instructions and adapt to the child's changing needs.
* Willingness to assist with personal care tasks, as needed.
* Relevant certifications or training in first aid and CPR is a plus.
