Senior Software Engineer (Architecture-Focused)

We’re partnering with a global adtech firm. They’re now looking for a Senior Software Engineer with architectural exposure to help design and deliver key platform components while remaining hands-on across Python, TypeScript/React, and Google Cloud.
The Role
You’ll play a hybrid role across system design, coding, and delivery, working closely with the CTO.
Expect a healthy mix of:
Architecture & Technical Direction
* Contributing to the system design and technical roadmap for core scheduling and automation services
* Helping define engineering standards across API design, data models, observability, and CI/CD
* Supporting decisions on storage models, service boundaries, orchestration flows, and event-driven patterns
Hands-On Engineering
* Building backend services in Python (APIs, async workflows, automation pipelines)
* Developing UI components in React/TypeScript for internal tools and dashboards
* Working in a GCP environment (Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Firestore)
* Optimising end-to-end performance of scheduling engines and workflow automation
Collaboration & Delivery
* Working with Product, Content Ops, and channel teams to translate real-world workflows into scalable technical solutions
* Reviewing code, supporting mid-level engineers, and contributing to release quality
* Communicating trade-offs and technical decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders
What You’ll Bring
* Strong backend experience with Python (APIs, async, production systems)
* Solid React/TypeScript experience for dashboards or internal tools
* Hands-on exposure to Google Cloud (Cloud Run, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Firestore, etc.)
* Experience building distributed or workflow-based systems (pipelines, schedulers, ETL, automations)
* Ability to contribute to architectural discussions and improve system design
* A pragmatic mindset: balancing engineering quality with delivery
Nice to Have
* Experience with digital media, content workflows, or YouTube APIs
* Familiarity with Airflow, Composer, Dagster, or Prefect
* ML/AI awareness (classification, embeddings, tagging workflows)
* Experience with high-throughput scheduling or rules engines
