About the Role
Having the right data capabilities is a key part of supporting growth of the assessment business, including the ability to provide critical business insights. The Assessment Data & Insight Analyst will be instrumental in driving data-informed decisions that fuel the assessment business' growth trajectory. This role will collaborate closely with the Global Growth Lead, other functions of the central UK team and sales teams globally to extract, analyse, and interpret complex datasets, providing actionable insights that optimize our strategies and initiatives.
You will be responsible for supporting the development of an OUP data-led assessment strategy and providing expert guidance to ensure that data processes and systems are implemented in alignment with OUP's strategic objectives and best practice.
The Assessment Data & Insight Analyst role sits within the Assessment team and will support strategy implementation through planning, demand forecasting, data mining and reporting, and the tracking of key performance indicators for the business. You will also be providing assessment sales teams globally with supporting analysis and advice to deliver the business growth targets, and will work across multiple data sources including commercial, operational, product and market data to produce integrated insights. The kinds of data the role will handle include commercial performance data, customer experience data, salesforce & pipeline data, market and competitor data, platform & test delivery analytics. This work is essential in shaping commercial decisions and supporting the overall growth plans for the assessment business.
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
About You
Essential:
* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, to define business needs, develop technical requirements, and propose solutions to business problems using data-driven insights
* Ability to identify strategic aligned data requirements, using appropriate methodologies or techniques, and write persuasive business cases for the delivery of these requirements
* Ability to strategically analyse all aspects of data systems, their management and use, in the context of OUP's current practice compared to external standards and practice
* Detail orientated with ability to accurately extract and analyse complex information from systems and people and represent this in systematic formats
* Expert knowledge of assessment systems, especially data models and data flows
* Ability to advocate best practice and persuade colleagues to make decisions that align with a strategic direction
* Experience of working on complex systems/data projects
* Understanding of data analytics applications and business processes, as well as solid working knowledge of data management best practices and experience implementing and maintaining them
* Exceptional verbal communication skills with ability to explain concepts and procedures
* Ability to influence stakeholders and effectively manage long term relationships
* Knowledge and application of business and data analytical methodologies, tools and techniques e.g. business process, systems & data modelling
Desirable:
* Experience of working in the international education sector
* Demonstrated ability to think creatively to find solutions to complex and intangible problems
