Your role
Are you a dynamic individual, looking for opportunities beyond traditional legal practice? Are you a strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit, looking to get more out of your legal skills? As an in-house lawyer at Global Relay, you will be immersed in the hottest tech trends and issues of the day, including big data, artificial intelligence, surveillance, privacy protection, data sovereignty, and more. You will be involved in every major aspect of the business – not just legal matters – and will help Global Relay forge new partnerships and grow its global distribution network. You will deal with issues related to compliance archiving, data protection, eDiscovery, and business continuity for highly regulated industries. You will work with seasoned tech vets and experienced professionals across Global Relay’s seven offices, and you will have opportunities to collaborate with and receive mentorship from in-house lawyers. You will work with a growing customer base that includes 22 of the world’s largest banks, with travel opportunities to major financial centers such as New York, London, and Chicago. Your responsibilities
* Review, negotiate, and draft customer agreements, policies, and partner agreements and conduct business and legal negotiations
* Advise internal teams on a broad spectrum of legal and business issues, including international data protection requirements, contractual commitments, industry-specific compliance obligations, intellectual property rights, and employment issues
* Provide legal support relating to compliance and eDiscovery subject matters
* Provide legal support related to customer retention, renewals, and other related legal/accounting issues
* Provide business support in the development of Global Relay's sales, marketing and business development strategies, new go-to-market strategies, product design, deployment, and positioning to help maximize revenues
* Provide operational support with Global Relay's internal policies, communications, training, and education on services and governance
About you
* Minimum 2 years of legal experience as a practicing lawyer, preferably with prior in-house experience (compensation and responsibilities will be commensurate with experience)
* Juris Doctor or LLB from an accredited law school
* Licensed to practice law in the United Kingdom
