Due to 2 of our registrars being successful in obtaining training posts applications are invited for the position of Trust Grade Registrar to commence as soon as possible. It is essential that applicants have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within General Medicine and have obtained full MRCP (including PACES). Previous cardiology experience at registrar level is essential.
Although this position is NOT recognised for Training by the Postgraduate Deanery, successful applicants will be given equivalent training opportunities to Specialty Trainees.
The Department of Cardiology at Kettering General Hospital is committed to providing high quality, patient centred care and it is expected the successful candidate will be an exceptional and highly motivated individual, working with a similar ethos. The post-holder will participate in the Cardiology rota at the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be assigned a supervisor from the beginning and will receive training in cardiac imaging, bradycardia pacing and coronary angiography (depending on experience/competence) over a two year period. They will receive full exposure to both elective and non-elective cardiology.
Participation in 1 in 8 Cardiology middle grade oncall rota.
The appointee will also be encouraged to undertake research and audit, as well as attendance at regional and national educational meetings. He/she will also actively participate in our busy educational programme of teaching under and postgraduates.

Qualifications
* 3 years at SHO level (F2/CT equivalent)
* Full MRCP completed
* Supervision of FY1/FY2
* 1 year at Registrar level
* GMC Registration
Skills / Experience
* Experience in cardiology (at Registrar level)
* Competency in Echocardiography
* Understanding of audit and commitment to personal and departmental audit
* Evidence of quality improvement

Including factual reference, occupational health clearance and statutory and mandatory training record.
If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (£49.50) and this amount will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019 all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of £16. New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £49.50 for a new DBS check in 3 years time.
Please note that new starters with KGH are subject to a six month probationary period.
