Overview

Permanent Position from September 2026

Reed's School is a fantastic place to work. Teachers and pupils alike flourish in its friendly, supportive, forward-thinking community. It is one of the leading Independent Day and Boarding Schools in the country and is proud to be providing an education for around 800 pupils, including a significant number who are funded by our charitable foundation. The school is all-boys from 11-16 and has a co-educational Sixth Form.

Sport represents a prominent force within Reed's School, engaging a large, enthusiastic, and active sporting community of both pupils and staff. We are excited to be recruiting for a well-qualified and enthusiastic Head of Athletic Development to join our thriving and highly successful Sports Department. The role-holder is expected to have impressive leadership skills, high level S&C expertise and experience of coaching young people. We are seeking to build on our outstanding programme by continuing to provide quality sessions, which aim to improve our students' experience. The role will also work alongside the Head of High-Performance, ensuring careful monitoring of our Sports and Academy Scholars. Increasing student awareness of up-to-date training principles, injury management and workload balance is vital. The ability to operate as part of a team is also hugely important.

The closing date for this vacancy will be midday, Thursday 5 February 2026. All interested applicants should apply by using the links on the school website. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit a completed application as soon as possible. The School reserves the right to interview and appoint before the closing date, should a suitable candidate present themselves.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants and all applicants will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media account names/handles, as part of their application. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
