The post holder will work as part of the Finance Directorate team, based within the Financial Accounts Office.
The post holder will be required to carry out a range of general accounting duties, as directed, under the day-to-day supervision of the Financial Accounts Officer.
The post holder will process and input financial information, complete routine financial transactions, and respond to queries.

Hours / Working Days: 37.5 hours per week / Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Verify and validate supplier invoices against contract terms.
2. Validate, collate and input staff travel and subsistence claims to payroll system.
3. Liaise with each of the Business Services Organisation’s Shared Service Centres for Payments; Income; and Payroll as needed.
4. Assist in preparing journals for entry into the financial systems, including accruals and prepayments.
5. Investigate queries from internal and external customers regarding invoices, travel expenses, and other payments, providing assistance and advice as required.
6. Analyze financial information to identify and resolve errors and discrepancies related to payments.
7. Ensure financial information is processed according to the Trust’s policies and procedures for accuracy in statutory returns.
8. Ensure financial information is prepared and processed within the Trust’s financial timescales.
9. Assist in forwarding cheques for lodgement on behalf of the Trust.
10. Open and sort the post and record monies received by the Trust.
11. Issue petty cash.
12. Suggest improvements to internal procedures and participate in process development.
13. Assist the Financial Accounts Officer with other related duties as requested.
Qualifications
* Membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Intermediate Level (NVQ Level 3) or equivalent professional qualification.
* OR
* Membership of AAT Foundation Level (NVQ Level 2) or equivalent, with at least one year’s experience in financial administration.
