Responsibilities
* Execute second line of defence compliance and operational risk oversight for Front‑Line Units, Control Functions, and/or Third Parties.
* Identify and assess risks and controls related to EMEA electronic trading businesses and activities, including algorithms, direct electronic access, internal trading venues, and internal market access.
* Own, drive and participate in governance, steering, and working group committees to monitor risk and control developments, escalations, and trends.
* Challenge and engage with Business Units, Infrastructure Groups, and Control Partners to shape the control framework and challenge proposed solutions.
* Oversee intra‑day limit monitoring and approval of front‑office trading limits and controls; monitor and remediate limit breaches.
* Review all major incidents and control failures.
* Review execution of procedures and assess assurance mechanisms for identifying weaknesses or failures of key controls.
* Undertake independent assessments of electronic trading environment and control framework to identify gaps and propose solutions.
* Create strong working relationships with control and process owners to identify and mitigate electronic trading risk.
* Provide guidance on evolving electronic trading risk landscape and associated control functions.
* Work with stakeholders to establish & evaluate policy and policy exception requests, driving risk acceptance conclusions.
* Develop metrics and reporting to measure and monitor key risk indicators and oversee risk and control documentation.
* Assess risks and effectiveness of Front‑Line Unit processes and controls to ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.
* Respond to regulatory inquiries, audits, and examinations.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree minimum.
* Several years of experience in the financial services industry.
* Electronic trading experience (highly desirable).
* Deep understanding of EMEA regulatory framework and market microstructure.
* Familiarity with execution strategies and electronic execution algorithms.
* Experience within an Execution Services business or as a trader, business manager, or technologist.
* Broad understanding of operational risk issues and regulatory trends.
* Experience in risk management around sales & trading systems, especially lower‑latency electronic trading.
* Experience with software development lifecycle controls (e.g., change management, testing).
* Relationship management and strong interpersonal skills.
* Project management and organization skills; ability to multitask and prioritize.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Flexible, self‑motivated, with excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
* Team‑oriented and capable of building networks across stakeholders.
