Electrical Architect / Electrical Systems Engineer
Location: Stevenage (Bristol/Bolton can be an option) (3 days onsite, 2 days from home)
Contract Length: 6 months

Rate: £61.16 p/h PAYE (£70.051p/h inc. holiday rate) OR £80 p/h Umbrella

Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Architect / Electrical Systems Engineer to support the development of complex, safety-critical systems. This role spans the full engineering lifecycle, from early concept and requirements definition through to qualification, production, and in-service support.
The position is well suited to an engineer looking to broaden their systems-level experience, combining technical authority with cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Architecture & Systems Engineering
* You will be responsible for defining and owning the electrical architecture and requirements for complex platforms and/or associated launch or deployment systems.
Key activities include:
* Defining system-level electrical requirements
* Specifying and managing interfaces between subsystems and equipment
* Developing power architectures, including power budgets and power profiles
* Defining data communication and processing architectures
* Establishing requirements for EMC, bonding, grounding, and screening
* Ensuring signal safety, including routing of safety-critical signals
* Performing design assessments, trade studies, and technical analysis
* Authoring and reviewing technical reports, guidelines, and processes
* Supporting integration, test, fault-finding, and qualification activities
* Working in accordance with relevant defence and industry standards
* Attending and contributing to technical and design reviews
* Equipment Management (Alternative or Combined Responsibility)
* Depending on project needs, you may act as the Responsible Equipment Manager (REM) for specific electrical or electronic equipment. Responsibilities include:
* Managing equipment development, qualification, and manufacture on behalf of the project
* Owning and controlling equipment requirements
* Producing Statements of Work for internal or external design authorities
* Creating and maintaining delivery and activity plans
* Managing design authorities to ensure delivery to cost, schedule, quality, and performance targets
* Conducting regular progress and technical reviews
* Reviewing qualification and verification evidence
* Tracking, managing, and resolving non-compliances
* Supporting formal design and programme reviews
Required Skills & Experience
* Strong background in electrical and/or electronic engineering
* Experience defining system and equipment interfaces
* Understanding of engineering standards and regulated environments
* Ability to produce clear, structured technical documentation and reports
* Degree-level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline
* Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
* Defence or other safety-critical industries
* Complex system or weapon system development
* Power supplies and power distribution
* Actuation systems
* Data communications and networking
* Sensors and signal processing
* Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
* Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS)
