Role Overview The Company Accounts Assistant plays an important role in supporting the Company Accounts Team, helping to keep Ashdown Phillips’ finances accurate, organised and running smoothly day to day. In this role, you’ll be hands-on with key financial processes, from bank transactions to handling staff expenses, supporting Sustainability reporting, and assisting with VAT preparation. You’ll help maintain clear, high-quality records and carry out essential reconciliations to keep everything on track. Working closely with both internal teams and external accountants, you’ll be a key point of support in resolving queries quickly, contributing to month-end and year-end tasks, and helping improve how we do things across finance. This role is all about staying organised, paying attention to the detail, and communicating clearly, ensuring our financial processes are accurate, compliant and well managed. Report to Associate Director – Company Accounts Senior Associate Director – Company Accounts Key Objectives Ensure accurate, timely financial processing for APP, APR and APPM Ltd. Support effective financial controls, reporting, and reconciliations. Maintain strong communication with internal teams to resolve queries promptly. Contribute to continual improvements in finance processes. Key Accountabilities Monitor, process and reconcile staff and Credit Card expenses using Dext software. Assist in raising and monitoring electricity admin fees. Prepare supplier payment runs. Prepare sustainability data from accounting records. Support monthly bank reconciliations and daily monitoring of bank accounts. Provide assistance with Company Account queries arising from Service Charge reconciliations. Produce monthly aged debt reports and support ad‑hoc debt chasing when required. Support production of P&L, TB, Balance Sheet and year-end closedown activities. Maintain regular communication with internal teams and external accountants. Log and upload company invoices into Sage. Contribute to monthly draft VAT reports and support quarterly VAT return preparation. Maintain filing, scanning, and accurate record-keeping. Complete Anti‑Money Laundering and Anti‑Bribery training and follow all policies. Undertake ad‑hoc finance tasks as required. Personal Specification These are the minimum key areas of knowledge, skills and experience: Good working knowledge of Sage (or willingness to learn quickly). Strong Excel skills and general PC literacy. High numerical accuracy and excellent attention to detail. Good analytical skills, with the ability to summarise financial information clearly. Strong organisation and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively. Confident communicator with both financial and non‑financial colleagues at all levels. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks to deadlines. Problem‑solving mindset and willingness to support process improvements. Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop.
