Responsibilities
* Provide effective Mental Health Social Work (MHSW) in support of the DCMH, Defence Mental Health Social Work Service and the wider Defence Mental Health Services.
* Contribute to the development of service delivery, suggesting initiatives based on observations.
* Manage patient caseloads according to DCMH allocation processes and practices, as directed by the clinical team lead and the MHSW Regional Lead.
* Support the management of the DCMH by providing direct delivery advice for MHSW to the DCMH line manager and the MHSW Regional Lead.
* Assist with safeguarding issues and practice, acting as DCMH Safeguarding Lead.
* Undertake additional clinical or management tasks as appropriate to the grade and agreed upon with line manager or Head of Service.

This is a reserved post open to UK nationals only. Where required, non‑reserved posts are open to UK, Commonwealth, EEA and certain non‑EEA nationals. Where business needs allow, roles may combine office and home‑based working. All office‑based employees must spend a minimum of 60% of their working time on site.
Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before appointment and be subject to a 6‑month probation period unless otherwise advised.
Successful candidates will be required to provide evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B.

Person Specification
Membership and Registrations
* Must be registered with Social Work England (SWE), Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), the CCW or Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC).
Qualifications
* Degree in Social Work or equivalent Diploma in Social Work (DipSW) / Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW).
Experience
* Appropriately qualified and experienced Mental Health Social Work professional.
* Evidence of continued professional development and willingness to train in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation: Mental Health Act (MHA 1983), Mental Capacity Act (MCA 2005), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS), Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS), Care Act 2014, European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR 1998) and equivalent devolved legislation.
* Significant post‑qualification experience within mental health services, including risk assessment and mental state.
