Role
The postholder will:
1. Develop and, where appropriate, implement dedicated plans to open up the Archdiocesan archive via the creation of collection level descriptions, full file-level indexes and relevant authority files
2. Broaden our potential user base by allowing off-site users to discover collections by promoting holdings via social and traditional media.
3. Enable us to gain further experience and development of skills in the use of the AtoM cataloguing package
4. Support information management by specifying information relating to intellectual property rights and access restrictions/exemptions.
5. Facilitate potential community engagement with collection development, including with stakeholders in the Archdiocese
6. Facilitate the exploitation of the archives for research
This is a fixed term post for either 6 months Full-Time or 12 months part-time (18.50 hours a week)
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
7. Recognised postgraduate qualification in archives
8. Knowledge of international cataloguing standards
9. Knowledge of UK data protection requirements
10. Knowledge of digital archives and digital preservation
11. Knowledge of archives relating to church administration
12. Knowledge of governance structures of the Church of England
13. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to concentrate for long periods of time
14. Experience of using specialist archival cataloguing software
15. Proven experience in the successful delivery of large and complex archival arrangement and description projects
