Whether aiming for management roles or becoming a specialist like an Advanced Substance Use Practitioner, Turning Point will support your career development.
Role Responsibility
Recovery Navigators act as ‘key workers’ for a caseload of service users, supporting them to set goals around treatment and develop plans to achieve these. The role includes maintaining regular contact, offering advice, psycho-social interventions, assessments, risk management, and collaborating with clinical staff and partner agencies. Effective communication, task management, and commitment to Turning Point values are essential. Candidates with lived experience of substance use, mental health, or homelessness (self or others), or experience in health and social care, are encouraged to apply.
The Ideal Candidate
You should have an understanding of substance and alcohol use and the challenges faced during recovery. Transferable skills from mental health, housing, or other health and social care fields are also valued. Flexibility, the ability to work dynamically with individuals and groups, and knowledge of relapse and barriers to recovery are important. Excellent communication skills and shared organizational values are also key. We support individuals without all experience through our Trainee Recovery Worker program, enabling entry-level positions leading to other roles.
We value creativity and initiative. Your ideas to improve services and user experience are encouraged and supported with extensive training. Our learning culture promotes staying updated with field developments and service improvements.
