We are recruiting for an experienced and proactive SHE Manager, based at our manufacturing site in Lockerbie, to become a lead member within the UK SHEQ team. The UK sites include Upper Tier COMAH (Bury site) and lower tier sites, certified to ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. In addition to site-based activities, the UK SHEQ team supports field-based colleagues and engages with the wider Kersia group. The successful candidate will be responsible for proactively promoting safety, environmental and sustainability standards and assurance of compliance with regulatory and other relevant requirements.
Role type and timeframe: Monday – Friday, 34 hours per week. Flexibility is required to work outside hours when necessary.
Responsibilities
* Provide safety advice and support the organisation to meet statutory, regulatory, and other requirements.
* Evaluate compliance with legislation, policies and best practice; keep relevant sections of the legal register up to date.
* Compile and report safety and environmental performance data, objectives and PSPIs.
* Collaborate with departmental managers to promote SHE in daily operations.
* Develop, implement and maintain the Integrated Management System as part of the UK SHEQ team, including:
* Continuous development and implementation of the Process Safety Management System (COMAH).
* Adherence to safety, legal and other UK or international standards (ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001).
* Maintain the site’s process safety management system.
* Manage incident reporting, action and non-conformity system (SHEQ App).
* Lead internal and supplier audits.
* Be a member of the onsite emergency response team including out-of-hours cover.
* Represent the company in discussions, meetings, and audits with HSE, BSI, SEPA, Scottish Water, etc.
* Attend and chair regular internal management, Safety, COMAH, and other ad hoc meetings when required.
* Plan and carry out investigations, including site visits where necessary.
* Engage with colleagues, provide safety training, and run safety campaigns.
Qualifications and experience
* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
* Member of IOSH
* Environmental qualification or equivalent (desirable)
* Chemistry qualification and/or relevant experience in the chemical industry (desirable)
* Relevant experience in COMAH and chemical manufacturing or similar environment
* Flexibility with working hours
* Trained internal auditor (desirable)
* Full driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally to other sites
* Experience of managing all aspects of health & safety and environment
* IT literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Ability to plan for and manage multiple priorities
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a wider SHEQ team
