Our client is a leading engineering company specialising in sheet metal and metal fabrication. With a commitment to precision, quality, and customer satisfaction, they are seeking a skilled CAD Technician to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong SolidWorks skills and experience in the metalwork industry.
Role Overview:
As a CAD Technician, you will play a key role in creating, checking, and managing technical drawings and production documents to support manufacturing processes. You will liaise directly with customers, suppliers, and colleagues to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Create and check drawings in SolidWorks for use in manufacture and production.
Interpret customer drawings, requesting additional information when necessary.
Review and check internal production drawings produced in SolidWorks by colleagues.
Prepare BendCAM, BlankCAM and Production Designer (Amada) job sheets.
Support with customer quotation requests and generate stock codes & BOMs for quotations.
Check material costs in BOMs, request up-to-date supplier prices and lead times.
Ensure all BOM operations and resources are correct and costings are accurate.
Create quotations (signed off by the Production Office Manager/Head of Sales) and send to customers.
File all quotation information in an organised and accessible manner.
Adhere to company Health & Safety Policy and quality control standards (EN1090-1:2009+A1:2011 EXC2 & ISO9001:2015).
Provide guidance and training to colleagues where necessary.
Undertake further training as required.
Carry out other reasonable duties as required.
About You:
Proficient in SolidWorks with experience in sheet metal/metalwork design.
Strong technical understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to check drawings/BOMs for accuracy.
Good communication skills for liaising with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Organised and methodical approach to filing and documentation.
Knowledge of Amada software (BendCAM, BlankCAM, Production Designer) is desirable.
Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 07:45 - 16:45
Friday: 07:45 - 12:45
