Cornerstone Practice and Healthcare - Providing NHS Services is seeking an enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our friendly team at Lambeth Street Surgery. This fixed-term post offers 4 sessions per week fixed days (Mondays and Fridays), running from June to December 2026. You will be part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team committed to delivering excellent whole-person care to our diverse patient population. Duties includes face‑to‑face and telephone conversation, home visits and administrative responsibilities, with the full support of our experienced clinical and administrative staff.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide high-quality primary care to patients at Lambeth Street Surgery, working across 4 sessions per week (Monday and Fridays).Key duties includes:

* Face-to‑face and telephone consultation, managing a varied and rewarding caseload
* Home visits for patients unable to attend the surgery
* Reviewing and signing repeat and acute prescription request
* Completing clinical administration, correspondence, and patient record coding
* Contributing to on-call and triage duties on a pro‑rata basis
* Working collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care

Job responsibilities

Salaried GP-Maternity Cover Site: Lambeth Street Surgery Session: 4 per week (Fixed: Mondays and Fridays) Contract: Fixed Term - June to December 2026. Job Summary To provide primary and continuing medical care for patients in the community, taking account of physical, emotional, and social factors when diagnosing illness and recommending the required treatments. To work within a team alongside other care providers to discuss the best care options for patients and encourage patients to take responsibility for their own health.

The practice has a commitment to excellent whole-person care for patients. We continually seek quality improvement and learning. It is expected that all our GPs are actively committed to supporting these aims and participate in relevant activities when appropriate.

Clinical Duties

* Provide General/Personal Medical Services to the patients of Cornerstone Practice and Healthcare
* Undertake face-to-face and telephone consultations, managing a varied and rewarding caseload
* Conduct home visits for patients unable to attend the surgery
* Check and sign repeat and acute prescription requests
* Assess and manage patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
* Admit or refer patients to other care providers in line with local procedures and pathways
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
* Complete administrative duties promptly, including correspondence and patient record coding
* Cover for absent colleagues and support the wider clinical team as required

Continuous Learning and Development

* Engage with all mandatory training including Safeguarding, Life Support and Information Governance
* Fully engage with the appraisal process, both internally and externally
* Remain up to date with GMC registration and Performer List Validation, notifying the Practice Manager of any risks at the earliest opportunity

Communication

* Communicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the practice
* Liaise with Integrated Care Teams, community services, hospitals and other agencies to ensure appropriate patient care
* Communicate effectively with patient carers, recognising their needs for alternative methods of communication
* Demonstrate sensitive communication styles to ensure patients are fully informed and consent treatment

Organisation and Quality

* Recognise and work within own competence and the GMC professional code of conduct
* Prioritise, organise and manage own workload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality
* Deliver care in line with National Service Frameworks, NICE guidelines and NHS policy
* Utilise the audit cycle as means of evaluating the quality of work and implementing improvements
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives including Significant Event Analysis and peer reviews
* Support the achievements of QOF, local NHS standards and Practice standards

Teamwork

* Work as an effective and responsible team member, supporting clinical and non-clinical colleagues
* Participate in team activities that creates opportunities to improve patient care
* Be willing to work flexibly across sites as required to support fair service provision

Information and Governance

* Review, enter and process data using accurate disease codes and good record structure
* Follow the requirements of confidentiality, GDPR, the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act
* Follow Practice policy regarding use of email, computer tasks and the intranet

* Monitor work areas and practices to ensure they are safe and free from hazards

Sessions and Workload

Each standard clinical session contains 12 appointments of 15 minutes each, comprising a mixture of advance-booked and same-day, remote and face-to-face appointments.

Additional emergency appointments may occasionally be required but will not normally rise about 3 per surgery. GP may be required to contributed to clinical triage support via the Care Navigation Hub on a pro-rata basis. All GPs are expected to contribute to the on-call rota for late home visits and urgent queries, allocated fairly on a pro-rata basis.


Person Specification


Other Requirements

* Use of a motor vehicle and full valid driving licence (required for home visits)


Experience

* Experience of working in a primary care/general practice setting
* Experience of continued professional development
* Experience of QOF and clinical audit
* General understanding of the GMS contract
* Experience of working with EMIS Web
* Experience in Obstetrics and/or Child Health Surveillance
* Previous experience in a busy, multi-site general practice


Qualifications

* Full GMC registration with licence to practise
* Inclusion on the NHS Performers List
* Qualified GP-MRCCP or equivalent
* Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP)
* Additional postgraduate qualifications relevant to primary care


Skills and Knowledge

* Good clinical knowledge and sound decision-making skills
* Good communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal
* Good organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work independently without supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Computer literate, particularly with Microsoft office
* Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
* Sound interpersonal skills- tact and diplomacy
* Minimum 2 years of General Practice experience
* Ability to use persuasive skills regarding sensitive issues
* Experience of audit and quality improvement
