This is a permanent, full-time vacancy that will close in a month at 23:59 BST.

The Vacancy

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Paraplanner in our Personal Wealth team, based in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

The role is envisaged as full-time; however, we are open to considering candidates interested in a 4-day working week.

What will your role look like?

Our Paraplanners oversee the quality and accuracy of financial plans, lead strategic planning, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. You will analyze complex financial scenarios, evaluate specialist financial products, and collaborate with Planners to provide expert recommendations. Building and maintaining strong relationships with Planners and stakeholders is essential. You will present complex financial concepts and contribute to the development of the financial planning function through strategic input and guidance. The role requires exceptional technical knowledge and the ability to mentor junior team members.

Your main duties include research and report writing, with a requirement for competence in suitability report writing and experience in producing reports on various products and services.

Key tasks include:

* Preparing quality, technically accurate suitability reports.
* Conducting fund research using Defaqto and FE Analytics.
* Maintaining the client back-office system (iO).
* Staying updated on legislative changes.
* Collaborating with financial Planners and administrators to ensure high standards of advice and service.
* Producing relevant paperwork such as quotations, illustrations, and valuations.
* Handling queries from clients, Planners, or colleagues promptly and effectively.
* Providing professional customer service via telephone, email, and face-to-face when required.
* Possessing expert knowledge in estate planning, retirement planning, tax, and investments.
* Overseeing the quality and accuracy of junior team members’ work to ensure regulatory compliance.
* Building and maintaining relationships with Planners and stakeholders.
* Presenting complex financial concepts effectively and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications and experience needed:

* Expertise in retirement planning, tax, and investment analysis.
* Experience within an IFA/Financial Planning firm.
* Experience with IO back-office software.
* Strong report writing skills.
* Experience in conducting research and producing reports across advice areas including estate planning, retirement, and investments.
* Good knowledge of IO database is preferred.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Experience with Defaqto and FE Analytics is preferred.
