Key Responsibilities
* Leadership & Team Management:
o Guide and mentor the Operational colleagues in the completion of all hygiene practices
o Develop and implement systems to drive continuous improvement and hygiene excellence
o Ambassador for food safety and quality culture in the factories
o Foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, and accountability across the hygiene, quality, technical, operational and support function teams
* Assurance & Compliance:
o Ensure all hygiene practices meet or exceed industry/customer quality standards, including HACCP, GMP, and BRCGS & ISO certifications
o Monitor and ensure compliance with hygiene regulations, industry standards, and internal policies
o Collaborate with the technical and operational team to establish and enforce protocols and KPIs for verifying effective hygiene
* Process Optimization & Innovation:
o Oversee the development, implementation, and optimization of hygiene systems
o Work closely with Operations to incorporate new technologies, production techniques, and process improvements that strengthen hygiene across both sites
* Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
o Closely collaborate with other departments such as Production, Supply Chain, Procurement to ensure hygiene systems align with company goals
o Ensure that hygiene drivers are front and centre to cross functional projects
* Cost Management:
o Control aspects of the hygiene budget, ensuring cost‑effective implementation of hygiene solutions and process improvements
o Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs without compromising product quality and food safety
* Sustainability & Environmental Impact:
o Support efforts to minimize the environmental impact of manufacturing operations by promoting sustainable practices
o Support energy‑efficient technologies and resource‑saving initiatives to reduce waste and energy consumption in line with corporate sustainability goals
* Training & Development:
o Oversee the training and development of ops/hygiene staff to ensure they have the necessary skills to excel in their roles
o Encourage knowledge‑sharing across the team and maintain a continuous learning culture
Personal Competencies
* Minimum of 4 years experience within a Hygiene Management/Supervisory role within food manufacturing or a related industry
* Proven track record of managing a large‑scale production operation with a focus on hygiene improvements
* Experience in regulatory compliance and retailer codes of practice
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop hygiene teams
* In depth knowledge of food manufacturing technologies
* Excellent problem solving skills and a strong understanding of food hygiene and environmental regulations
* Strong communications skills both written and verbal, to collaborate with senior management, technical and operational teams and all other cross‑functional departments
* Highly organised, detail orientated and capable of handling projects simultaneously
* Willing to work "hands‑on" within the operational hygiene windows
* Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long‑term objectives with short‑term operational needs
* Ability to adapt to change and thrive in fast‑paced dynamic environment

Travel Requirements
UK and occasionally international travel will be required to other company sites, suppliers or to industry events.
