The role
This newly created role as Business Manager will partner the Director of Public and Private Markets in developing and implementing strategic plans, shaping and embedding new investment management procedures and ensuring the effective adoption of these strategic change initiatives across the investment management function. In conjunction, the role will also provide high-level investment portfolio oversight/control and reporting on the public and private market portfolios, as well as deputise for the Director of Public and Private Markets in key strategic meetings.
This is a broad Business Management role to drive the strategic development of Nest’s Investment Management team whilst supporting and enhancing BAU activities. Activities are likely to encompass; policy development and implementation, change management and delivery, strategy development, organisational culture and team development, portfolio oversight, as well as engagement and management of a broad range of stakeholders.
The person
The successful candidate will be an experienced and hands on Business Manager (or similar) with a range of capabilities, which will likely include:
* Investment Management experience and a good understanding of investment management processes or investment management change.
* Experience of working within an external manager selection team, ideally encompassing both public and private market asset classes.
* Good understanding of capital markets, asset class characteristics, investment strategy, investment processes and investment styles.
* A Familiarity with investment governance processes, investment reporting and regulatory requirements.
* A good understanding of data architecture and investment operations.
* Excellent verbal and written communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to build trust across diverse audiences.
* Experience of shaping and delivering technology, process and cultural change projects to enhance operational BAU delivery and investment management capability.
* We are looking for someone who is able to think intuitively and autonomously. Possesses robust influencing skills to engage effectively with others, providing direction and challenge where required and an ability to build and maintain strong relationships.

From December 2019, the Nest Investment team was seconded into Nest Invest Ltd (Nest Invest), the investment subsidiary of Nest Corporation.
Nest Invest is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). For the role holder, this means working in a regulated entity, and being required to adhere to certain rules and behaviours included in the FCA’s Code of Conduct (COCON), specifically the individual Conduct Rules defined by the FCA.
