Overview
Telford based client (cGBP65k+ neg dep exp + benefits) with almost 20 years in business, recognised as a leading provider of hardware and software design through to robot systems integration and commissioning on bespoke automation solutions for a diverse UK client base. They are seeking to recruit an experienced Automation Project Engineer to join the successful Projects team as part of an ongoing growth programme.
Responsibilities
* Support multiple projects averaging around GBP 75k as required by the Project Manager.
* Develop Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and associated Controls layouts according to FDS requirements, plus Safety Matrix and Device List information.
* Develop automation solutions with creative input; support electrical installation planning, commissioning and final acceptance testing; visit customer sites as required to ensure milestones and customer satisfaction.
* Produce technical documents in line with client requirements to industry standards using technical features, diagrams and language; maintain responsibility for project gateway sign-off for automation, including (but not limited to) FDS, electrical design (including AutoCAD layouts and converting mechanical layout into Controls layout), FAT, electrical installation planning, commissioning and final acceptance testing.
* Manage all aspects of Resource Management for each assigned project: identify materials, ensure budget adherence, place orders and deliver onsite to project schedule; create associated project documentation to satisfy CE/UKCA marking requirements.
* Support fellow team members with excellent organisational and communication skills; ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation and provide weekly project updates on task status.
* Willingness to travel/ work away as required and attend meetings at a facility in Nottingham; undertake additional training where required; work autonomously and as part of the team on site and in the workshop, adhering to all Health and Safety regulations.
* Demonstrate skills in scheduling, prioritisation, budget management, task management and risk management; ideally with at least 3 years of project management experience within a logistics automation environment with knowledge/experience in electrical/PLC design and development (from conveyors, robotics or automotive settings).
Qualifications / Experience
* Minimum of around 3 years of project management experience in a logistics automation environment.
* Proven knowledge and experience in electrical/PLC design and development; exposure to conveyors, robotics or automotive sectors preferred.
