A regional affordable housing provider is seeking an experienced Contract Manager (retrofit) to join an established planned investment sustainability team.
The Contract Manager (retrofit) will report directly to the Head of Decarbonisation and be responsible for providing technical advice on the design, construction, and maintenance and repair of the organisation's tenants and housing stock to deliver retrofit works.
This role includes investigation, identification, diagnosis, and problem-solving of complex maintenance issues, undertaking building surveys, writing technical reports, preparation of specifications, quantities, programmes of work, and budgeted costs for use by in-house delivery teams or external contractors.
The main purpose of this role is to project manage the delivery of energy improvement and carbon reduction to existing homes, ensuring they are delivered in a compliant way, to a high standard, on time, and to budget.
Key Responsibilities:
* Overseeing the delivery of energy improvement works within the retrofit programme
* Ensuring the retrofit process is compliant with PAS 2035 and all relevant legislation, including health and safety and CDM Regulations
* Successfully managing contracts for maintenance works, monitoring performance, and liaising with contractors and professionals
* Making technical decisions in relation to property visits, creating work schedules, design/specification, and contract management
* Preparing project briefs, descriptions of work, and specifications to enable the procurement of sustainability projects
* Reviewing and approving packages of energy improvement measures and associated designs
* Maintaining relationships with funding partners and ensuring timely reporting
* Collaborating with colleagues to ensure the retrofit programme is coordinated with other capital programmes
This is an exciting opportunity for someone from an affordable housing property background or a similar industry to add real value to an organisation with ambitious growth plans.
The role will require working across different project areas within a designated region, utilising the organisation's hybrid operating model, and managing retrofit projects in the region of £2-3m in value per annum.
Requirements:
* Minimum further education qualification (HNC / HND / Degree) and/or relevant construction, maintenance, or building-related professional qualification
* Experience working within a busy Maintenance/Property team and managing compliance issues
* Sound knowledge of contract administration, building contract law, and legislation, along with knowledge of Retrofit (PAS2035) / sustainability
* Any knowledge of SAP and RdSAP is also advantageous
* Current, valid driving licence is essential
