Penguin Random House UK
Business development executive
Posted: 10h ago
Offer description

Are you highly organised, detail-oriented, and excited by the prospect of working with bestselling authors and beloved brands such as Peppa Pig, Roald Dahl, and Bluey? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoy turning creative ideas into commercial opportunities?

The Opportunity

Our Business Development team drives growth opportunities and incremental revenue across Penguin Random House UK’s international business. We work globally to find new ways to sell and adapt our books – creating bespoke editions, exclusive formats, and tailored publishing for international partners.

As Business Development Executive, you’ll manage projects from concept to delivery, supporting our Custom Publishing business and collaborating closely with colleagues in Sales, Editorial, Production, and Design. You’ll contribute ideas, manage costings, and ensure products are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standard.

This is an exciting chance to gain broad exposure across the publishing process while playing a key role in a dynamic and supportive team that champions creativity, problem-solving, and commercial flair.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage publishing projects from start to finish, coordinating costings, schedules, and orders
* Analyse trends and sales data, providing insight and recommendations
* Collaborate with colleagues to develop new product ideas for key markets
* Create tailored presentations and materials for customers and internal meetings

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be a confident communicator with strong organisational skills and an analytical mindset. Comfortable juggling multiple priorities, you’ll combine meticulous attention to detail with a positive, proactive approach.

You’ll also bring:

* Strong commercial awareness and confidence managing costings and data
* The ability to build relationships and work effectively with multiple stakeholders
* Curiosity, adaptability, and enthusiasm for publishing and sales

Experience in publishing or custom product development is beneficial but not essential.

Application instructions

Please apply with your CV and cover letter outlining why you are the right candidate for the role by 11:59pm on Sunday 11th January 2026.

Please ensure you include a cover letter, as it is a crucial part of our assessment process. The cover letter offers an opportunity to show how your experience and interests align with the role requirements. Typically, we expect the cover letter to be no more than one or two pages in length.

Here at Penguin, we believe in the power of authenticity and human creativity. When you apply for a position, we want to encourage you to showcase your unique voice. Throughout our recruitment process, please share your own thoughts, experiences, and skills. This helps us get a true sense of who you are and what you might bring to our team.

We celebrate creativity and diverse perspectives, so please be yourself! While we recognise AI tools can be helpful, we recommend using them thoughtfully to ensure your responses reflect you.

Disability Confident

As a Disability Confident Committed organisation, we offer interviews to candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria for the role, and opt-in on their application form. The essential criteria for this role are listed as part of the ‘What you’ll bring’ section. There may be times when the volume of applications means we cannot take all eligible candidates to interview. We encourage you to tell us about any reasonable adjustments you may need by emailing PRHCareersUK@penguinrandomhouse.co.uk. Remember, you only need to share what you are comfortable with, for us to support your request.

Salary

Circa £30,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus benefits.

Hybrid working

While our offices across the UK are places to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important. For this role we expect that you work in our London office 3 days per week.
