Salary: £24,956 per annum rising to £25,350 per annum on successful completion of probation Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm Holiday: ​ 25 days annual holiday entitlement increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service per annum plus bank holidays Base: Pool Innovation Centre, Redruth. Area Covered: Mid Cornwall Contract: ​ Fixed term until March 2026 with the potential for extension subject to future funding ​ About the Role This role involves working closely with GP practices to provide a direct referral pathway for primary care staff to refer patients/clients that have experienced sexual violence and domestic abuse. This post holder will be expected to receive referrals, input data and contact clients referred to by primary care staff. They will provide a pro-active service and will undertake risk assessments and safety planning and provide emotional and practical support to clients. They will complete a triage assessment and either refer to the integrated service or access other services suitable for the client. In some cases, they may provide short term support, depending on risk and need. An important part of the role is to train and provide ongoing support to GP practices to enable primary care staff to effectively talk to their patients about domestic abuse and sexual violence. This role involves working in partnership within a multi-agency framework to deliver services and promote effective joint working and interventions for all those experiencing sexual violence and domestic abuse. ​ Key responsibilities: The GP Domestic Abuse Advisor will: Provide support to those experiencing Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence referred via the primary care clinicians. Provide direct casework support, advice, information, and advocacy to all genders experiencing domestic abuse through telephone contact, and/or meetings at the relevant practice. Provide onward referral either to the integrated service or access to other services more suitable to meet the service user’s needs. Will effectively complete risk assessments, address immediate safety and provide information and advice. Complete triage assessment with the new referral and upload to Case Management System (CMS). Provide support and on-going training for health professionals in general practice on understanding, responding to, and asking about domestic abuse and sexual violence. Reviewing, designing and adapting the training package for GP surgeries. Offering bespoke training session for surgeries when requested- designing and delivering. Essential requirements: ​ A Evidence of IT and computer literacy skills ​ Developing and maintaining relationships with clients/colleagues/professionals and stakeholders Confident communicator with excellent telephone skills Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel) Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and its impact Handling confidential and sensitive information appropriately Understand and demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities and diversity in policy and practice Flexibility and the ability to adapt according to the needs of the service Able to maintain personal and professional boundaries Able to self-evaluate and critically reflect on own practice driving license and access to a vehicle Added benefits: A comprehensive induction and training programme, with a hybrid working policy for a better work/life balance.
