About the Role
Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a highly regarded secondary school in Levenshulme, Manchester. This is a full-time position starting after Easter to cover a long-term absence. The school is known for its inclusive environment, commitment to academic excellence, and strong English department.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and well-structured English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching Key Stage 5 depending on experience. The role will involve fostering a love for literature, language, and critical thinking while ensuring students develop strong literacy skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons following the national curriculum.
2. Teach a range of texts, including modern and classic literature, poetry, and non-fiction.
3. Develop students’ analytical, reading, and writing skills to support their academic progress.
4. Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring an inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
5. Prepare students for GCSE examinations, providing guidance on exam techniques and coursework.
6. Monitor and assess student progress, delivering constructive feedback to support learning and development.
7. Foster a classroom environment that encourages discussion, debate, and creative expression.
8. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the English department to enhance curriculum delivery.
9. Contribute to extra-curricular activities, such as creative writing clubs, debating societies, or theatre trips.
10. Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and carers regarding progress and achievement.
11. Uphold the school’s values and commitment to providing high-quality education.
Requirements
1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
2. Experience teaching English at Key Stages 3 and 4 (experience with Key Stage 5 is desirable but not essential).
3. Strong subject knowledge of English literature and language.
4. A passion for teaching and the ability to inspire students to develop a love for reading and writing.
5. Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.
6. Strong communication and organisational skills.
7. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
